William Green Mather (1901-1987) obtained his bachelor of science degree from Denison University in 1924, his bachelor of divinity degree from Rochester Theological Seminary in 1927, when he became an ordained Baptist clergyman, and his master's and doctoral degrees in rural sociology from Cornell University in 1935 and 1936, respectively.
